Boy, 4, dies in swimming pool horror on family holiday at luxury caravan park
A LITTLE boy has died after an incident at a swimming pool while staying at a holiday park.
Police were called to Old Park Wood holiday park in Grange-over-Sands at 4.40pm on Monday.
The boy was taken to Furness General Hospital before he was transferred to Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital where he was in a critical condition.
Cumbria Police confirmed the boy has now died after the "incident" – but did not confirm the nature of his injuries.
In a statement, the force said: "Police can confirm that the four-year-old boy involved in this incident has sadly died.
"Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
"Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time."
The tot is believed to have been staying with his family at a lodge on the site.
The site's website describes it as "a luxury, private holiday park" set within the grounds of the Holker Estate.
An indoor heated swimming pool is available to guests at Old Park Wood.
A park spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the boy and his family at this time."
