BREAKING: 5 dead including 3 children as stolen car hits tree in ‘complete carnage’
FIVE people including three children have been killed after a stolen Renault Clip crashed into a tree in Leeds, West Yorkshire Police have confirmed.
Cops rushed to the scene of “complete carnage” on Stonegate Road, in the area of Meanwood, at 9.54pm last night.
Two 15-year-old boys are currently in custody, but cops have not released any details as to why they are being held.
West Yorkshire Police said just one vehicle had been involved in the collision but it remains unclear whether the five victims and two suspects were in the car.
The youngest victim in the crash is believed to be a 12-year-old boy.
And two 15-year-old boys and two men aged 24 and 28 were also killed.
The families of the dead have all been informed, police said.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Whether they were all in the car or whether some of [the victims] were pedestrians we can't say at this point in time. We've got the road closed, an investigation in place and we're trying to find out what's occurred."
The major collision enquiry team are currently conducting an investigation into the exact cause of the collision.
Meanwhile, drivers and locals have been urged to avoid the area throughout the day.
