Police officer 'handcuffed by fans' at Millwall clash with Tottenham

A PICTURE of a cop who appears to be handcuffed to a railing during the FA Cup clash between Millwall and Tottenham Hotspur has gone viral.

The image appeared online after the match, with people claiming that it shows a Metropolitan Police officer handcuffed to a garden railing.

One Twitter user uploaded the image with the caption: "A Millwall fan managed to handcuff a Policeman to a gate close to WHL today…" [sic]

The photo has been shared widely on social media with many finding the situation the cop reportedly found himself in hilarious.

"He's never going to hear the end of that down the station," Stuart Brookes commented.

Another said: "Best thing iv seen all year" [sic].

Craig Gough added: "That's brilliant that is. Hat off to Millwall lad that managed that."

But Gary Smith seemed less convinced, saying: "Will people bloody realise that the copper isn't handcuffed to the gate whatsoever! You can clearly see that isn't the case". [sic]

The validity of the photograph has not been verified and Daily Star Online has contacted Metropolitan Police for comment.

Violence erupted at White Hart Lane just before the match with police attempting to control fans as they spilled into the stadium.

After the match a video was circulated online reportedly showing what appears to be a Millwall fan thumping a Tottenham Hotspur fan to the floor.
