Portuguese police probe the alleged rape of a British holidaymaker on the Algarve


 
POLICE on the Algarve are probing the alleged rape of a British holidaymaker.
 
The tourist told officers a German man she met during a night out forced himself on her at a hostel he was staying at in the popular surfing town of Sagres.
 
 Police took her to hospital for a medical examination after she raised the alarm yesterday morning/on Thursday morning.
 
 She is understood to have told officers she agreed to go back to the unnamed German's hostel after heading to a beach with him during the night out - but didn't consent to sex.
 
 Officers based in the town of Portimao are dealing with the investigation.
 
 The small town of Sagres is situated at the extreme western tip of the Algarve.
 
 It has a laid-back feeling and is popular with surfers attracted to some of the best beaches of Portugal as well as hikers and cyclists.
 
 The age of the alleged victim is not known.
