Baby snatched in ASDA as woman lifts tot out of trolley telling him 'come with nanny'


 
THIS is the horrifying moment a woman tried to snatch a stranger's toddler out of a shopping trolley in Asda.
 
Police are hunting the woman amid fears it was an attempted abduction in the Asda supermarket in Bexleyheath, south east London.
 
 CCTV released by the cops shows the child's mum at the checkout with the tot happily sitting in the baby seat of the trolley.
 
 The woman then approaches and lifts the boy out of the trolley and telling him "come with nanny".
 
 In the footage she appears to start to walk away with the 18-month-old boy before mum Casey Vidler intervened.
 
 She grabs the child back before the older woman casually walks off – caught on CCTV nonchalantly exiting the Asda.
 
 Casey shared the chilling incident on Facebook and now detectives are investigating it as an attempted abduction.
 
 She wrote: "I was putting my shopping on the till and this women took Harrison out of the trolley that was right next to me where he was sitting and walked away.
 
 “Luckily I grabbed him. But as I grabbed him off her she repeatedly said 'come with nanny' I was in such shock that at that point I did nothing.”
 
 Police described the suspect “as oriental and about 65-years-old”.
 
 She was wearing white trainers, red tracksuit bottoms and a long grey coat.
 
 A police spokesperson said: “The mother of the child was at the checkout when a female lifted the child out of the shopping trolley and started to walk away with him.
 
 “The mother obviously intervened and grabbed her child back.”
 
 The incident occurred on Sunday, April 23, and Asda have confirmed they are assisting police with their enquiries.
