London murder count hits 77 as woman found stabbed to death in BACK GARDEN
A MURDER probe has been launched after a woman was found stabbed to death in the back garden of a house in London
Met Police confirmed the woman, in her 50s, was found dead at the property in Tunnel Avenue, Greenwich.
The woman has suffered stab injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Detectives are now investigating 77 murders in London as the capital is gripped by violence.
Cops have arrested a man, in his 50s, who is being quested at a south London police station.
The duo are believed to known to each other, but police said the incident is not domestic.
Met Police confirmed a post mortem examination will be held tomorrow afternoon.
The woman’s next of kin are being informed.
Knife crime has shocked the capital this year with a string of killings across the city – with 77 in six months, as compared to 116 in the whole of 2017.
Met Police said: "Police were called at around 11.30pm on Saturday, 23 June, to reports of a body found in the rear garden of a house in Tunnel Avenue, SE10.
"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the location and found the body of a woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The woman – believed to be aged in her 50s – appears to have suffered stab injuries."
