Mad Max-style 'homemade bazooka' used for launching drugs into US

CARTELS are bringing out the heavy artillery in the war on drugs with the latest find by narcotic-busting cops.

Drug agents discovered a truck outfitted with a gigantic "homemade bazooka".

The roof had been chopped off the stolen black truck and inside it a 10 foot long launcher had been installed along with an air compressor.

Cops believe the makeshift Mad Max-esque homemade artillery was used to fire bags of drugs across the border from Mexico into the US.

The bazooka was found parked in Agua Prieta, Mexico, which borders Douglas in Arizona, US.

Mexican authorities tracked down the vehicle after it was reported stolen – only to find it transformed into the makeshift artillery piece.

US Customs and Border Protection authorities believe the cannon could launch packets of drugs weighing up to 60 pounds.

A spokesman for the National Security Commision said: "The National Security Commission, through the Federal Police detected a vehicle with modifications and additions, apparently used for launching packages on the border of Sonora.

"Troops detected a parked vehicle without license plates that was with the doors open. when inspecting inside an air compressor was located, a gasoline engine, a tank for storing air and a metal tube about three metres long."

They added investigations are continuing as the truck appeared to be abandoned.

Earlier this year, two crooks were convicted for smuggling £500 million worth of cocaine into Britain – believed to be the biggest haul ever.

An infamous cartel-linked Mexican hit woman who drank blood and beheaded her enemies was arrested earlier this year in a crackdown on drug dealers.

American authorities released shocking images of a man and woman who suffered an overdose while their children sat in the back seat as a warning to users in the US.
