Peru Two drug mule Michaella McCollum leaves hotel in £57k Audi 'weeks after dole claim'

PERU TWO drugs mule Michaella McCollum has been snapped leaving a posh hotel in a £57,000 Audi just weeks after being spotted at a job centre.

The 24-year-old, from Northern Ireland, drove off in the lavish car on Wednesday – weeks after a job seeker saw her "joining the dole queue".

McCollum, was caught trying to smuggle £1.5 million of cocaine out of Peru, was pictured getting into an Audi S5 outside the swanky Malmaison Hotel.

Baring her legs in tight green dress and black denim jacket, McCollum also nipped to the petrol station to fill up the motor.

It is not clear whether McCollum owns the Audi, which retails at around £57,000 when new.

The blonde has also been pictured enjoying several sun kissed holidays in Spanish holiday hotspots Ibiza and Marbella in recent weeks.

But in April, the Sunday Mirror reported that McCollum was sighted appearing to be claiming benefits – just days after returning from Spain.

Speaking to the paper, a fellow job seeker said: “Michaella didn't look happy to be joining the dole queue.

“I was surprised to see her there after all the photos of her enjoying herself on holidays abroad.”

Since McCollum was released from prison in 2016, she has reportedly been connected with a number of financially enticing offers.

McCollum and her pal, Melissa Reid, were both aged 20 when they were arrested at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru in 2013.

The pair were sentenced to six years behind bars but were released after three.

But now McCollum has put her criminal past behind her, she is attempting to become a model and reality TV star.

She was released on parole only last March.

But she is set to become a TV star after reports she was in talks about appearing on Big Brother.

And a £250,000 book deal over her time behind bars in Lima is also said to be in the offing.

Speaking for the first time about her ordeal, she said: “It has been a long ride to get where I am today.

"But it just shows that when we fight hard enough for something we can achieve it.

“Something to have in mind – when one door closes, another opens.

“We look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door we do not see the one which has opened for us."

Daily Star Online has contacted representaives of McCollum for comment.

A spokesperson for McCollum admitted to Daily Star Online that she has attended a job centre since returning to the UK, but gave a conflicting timeline of events.
