Three dead after blaze rips through east London home


 
THREE people have died after a fire ripped through a house in east London.
 
A 68-year-old woman died at the scene of the fire in Hornchurch.
 
 Firefighters also pulled two men – aged 76 and 74 – from the burning home in Laburnum Avenue.
 
 Both men have since died in hospital.
 
 London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton said: “My thoughts and those of everyone at the brigade are with the friends and family of the three people who have died following the tragic fire in Hornchurch on Monday morning."
 
 Fire crews from three London boroughs battled for more than an hour and a half to put out the fire.
 
 One woman who lives opposite the scene, said: “I watched the firemen bring them out.
 
 "I was compelled to watch, willing them to do everything they could.”
 
 Neighbour Jeffrey Prendergast added: “It is tragic. There was smoke billowing out the windows.”
 
 Investigators are working to find out exactly what caused the fire.
