The 11th edition of the Half Marathon of Portugal runs to Sunday from 10.30 and are some news for a test that aims to bring professional and amateur athletes in a variety of social backgrounds.
Proof wants to position itself as a celebration of athletics and this year the organization was forced to amendments.
Thus, the proof will have two starting points, since the fact that there can be a gap greater than the length of the trial (21 km) required that the elite athletes could not take part in the proof of Vasco da Gama Bridge (which has a difference of 42 meters).
Although starting from two different locations, all athletes (professional and amateur) will meet the third mile.
The location of the test is also a novelty and Carlos Moya, president of Marathon Club de Portugal (MCP), explains the reasons of this change:

The President of the MCP also explains that the goal for this year is nothing to break world records, while acknowledging that some of these athletes have for this level.
"It would be nice to download the 59 minutes and there are athletes who have to do that, but it'll be a little hot and we'll see what we can. If the download is actually 59 minutes, then next year we'll think of world records. "
It predicts that the proof can join on Sunday morning about 17 000 athletes, among them are names such as Emmanuel Mutai (silver medal at the world championships in Berlin in 2009), Viktor Rohtlin (European champion in Barcelona) and Zhu Xiaolin (ranked 4th in the Olympic marathon in Beijing in 2008).
