READING AFTER RHODES

READING have offered Huddersfield £2million and defender Sean Morrison in a bid to land goal machine Jordan Rhodes.

Royals boss Brian McDermott is closing in on a deal for striker Pavel Pogrebnyak but still wants more firepower.


Rhodes’ goals helped the Terriers gain promotion to the Championship but is keen on testing his skills in the Premier League.


Morrison finished the season on loan at Huddersfield and boss Simon Grayson is keen to bring him back to Yorkshire.


Meanwhile, Reading are one of several English clubs in talks with striker Pogrebnyak, 28, according to his agent.


The free agent spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham from German side Stuttgart, scoring six goals.


Pogrebnyak’s representative Oleg Artemov said: “There are other English clubs. A final decision will be taken in a week’s time.”
