Steven Gerrard slams Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool after shock West Brom FA Cup loss

STEVEN GERRARD has slammed Liverpool following their embarrassing defeat against West Brom.

The Reds lost 3-2 in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield last night.

Roberto Firmino put Liverpool ahead early on before Jay Rodriguez netted twice in quick succession to stun Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Joel Matip then put the ball in his own net to hand the Baggies a two-goal advantage.

Mohamed Salah scored with 12 minutes remaining to give Liverpool a chance of earning a replay round but West Brom stood firm and held on.

And Gerrard hit out at Klopp’s side, claiming it was their worst performance of the season.

“Liverpool just weren’t good enough,” Gerrard told BT Sport after the game

“It could have been more goals for West Brom.

“This club is about winning trophies. To get knocked out of this competition is a big blow for Klopp and a big blow to the team. This was their chance at silverware.

“That’s the worst I’ve seen Liverpool here this season.”

Liverpool are back in action on Tuesday night when the Reds travel to Huddersfield in the Premier League, with Klopp's men desperate to bounce back from consecutive defeats.
