Luis Suarez: This meant nothing to me at Liverpool

LUIS SUAREZ claims missing out on the Premier League title with Liverpool meant he didn't care about being top scorer in the 2013/14 season.

LUIS SUAREZ claims missing out on the Premier League title with Liverpool meant he didn't care about being top scorer in the 2013/14 season.

The Uruguayan played a pivotal role in the Reds title challenge, scoring 31 goals in 33 appearances.

However, Brendan Rodgers' side missed out on the title by two points to Manchester City following defeat to Chelsea and a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace in the final weeks of the season.

Suarez, now at Barcelona, has once again been in sublime form this season and leads the La Liga scoring charts with 37 goals.

But again he is more concerned about ensuring the Catalan giants secure the title on the final day this weekend.

"I'm glad I've helped the team, but if we don't finish champions I don't care about the pichichi," he told AS.

"That's what happened at Liverpool, we came close to winning the Premier League, and finishing top scorer meant nothing to me because we didn't win the league.

"We have to make it happen ourselves, it's in our hands."
