Chelsea star Danny Drinkwater: How it felt to score my first Blues goal

DANNY DRINKWATER hopes to bag plenty more goals this season after opening his account for Chelsea.

Drinkwater, signed from Leicester for £35m over the summer, netted Chelsea’s second in their 5-0 romp over Stoke yesterday.

The 27-year-old England midfielder fired home a 25-yard half-volley, his first since moving to Stamford Bridge.

On his strike, Drinkwater said: “It was alright I suppose. I’m happy with it.

“It’s good to get off the mark in a Chelsea kit, so happy days. Hopefully there’s a few more on the way.

“We managed the game quite well, we made a fast start and put them on the back foot straight away and I think that was why we won so comfortably in the end.

“I don’t think we could afford to get sloppy because if we’d taken our foot off the gas and they’d scored, the game changes completely.
