Claudio Ranieri approached by Leeds to replace Garry Monk


 
 
CLAUDIO RANIERI could be set for a shock return to management with Leeds.
 
Ranieri has been out of work since being sacked by Leicester in February - just nine months after leading them to the Premier League title.
 
 The decision stunned the world of football, coming so soon after the Italian had masterminded the greatest title triumph of all time.
 
 Ranieri has been in demand ever since, but has turned down several offers, including deals with Inter Milan and Watford.
 
 But Starsport can reveal Radrizzani has approached Ranieri about him taking charge of Leeds and is confident of luring him to Elland Road.
 
 Radrizzani took full control of Leeds this week after buying out Massimo Cellino and is on a mission to take the club back into the top flight.
 
 The millionaire businessman is convinced Ranieri would be the perfect boss to get Leeds promoted.
 
 Ranieri turned the Foxes from relegation candidates into champions and has worked at some of the biggest clubs in the world.
 
 The former Chelsea, Inter, Valencia and Roma boss was left stunned when Foxes bosses axed him.
 
 He went back to Italy for an extended break but is keen on returning to management, although it remains to be seen if he would be willing to take on the challenge of a Championship club.
 
 Rafa Benitez remained with Newcastle following relegation in 2016 and managed to lead them back to the Premier League this season.
 
 Radrizzani is now hoping Ranieri could do something similar at Elland Road and is willing to back him in the transfer market with significant signings.
 
 If Ranieri turns down Leeds, it is understood Radrizzani will turn to former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka.
