England boss Roy Hodgson: I won't take any passengers to Euro 2016!
 
ROY HODGSON has warned his England squad that he won’t take any passengers to France next summer.
 
 England currently have a long list of injured contenders for a place at Euro 2016.
 
 That includes key strikers Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck, who Hodgson says must be “devastated” at the moment.
 
 The England boss remains hopeful they will both be available for the Euros, despite what have been long-term problems.
 
 But Hodgson said of his policy on injuries: “One of the things we’re going to be looking to do is make certain in our build-up that we take those things into consideration.
 
 We will be thinking about their ability to play a number of matches in a short space of time.
 
 “What you are really asking is, ‘Are we going to take a player to a tournament because he’s talented but has not played virtually any football?’
 
 “It’s unlikely. I wouldn’t really be happy to take players with us in the HOPE they will become fully fit during the tournament. I’d rather have 23 players who are fit and ready to go and capable of playing from the very first minute.”
 
 But Hodgson is hoping the injuries to Liverpool striker Sturridge and Arsenal forward Welbeck will be mid-season breaks and they’ll return fit and refreshed.
