ARSENE WENGER has come out fighting and insisted Arsenal are in great shape.

Gunners boss Wenger has been in the firing line with the club experiencing their worst start to a season since he arrived in 1996.

And boos echoed round the Emirates after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Swansea.

But the Frenchman, who has left 11 first-teamers behind for tonight’s game against Olympiacos, hit back at his critics.

He said: “At the moment it is fashionable to be against Arsenal, so every single word you say people turn it against you.

“It doesn’t stop me saying what I truly believe after the game.

"There us superficial analysis to turn is against you when it suits you."

Wenger insisted that apart from tiredness affecting one or two players Arsenal are in a good position.

"This club is in fantastic shape," he said.

"We have a good team, we are in a strong financial position and we are mentally strong - that is a fact."
