Chelsea boss Antonio Conte makes worrying claim about next season

ANTONIO CONTE is worried that runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City will get even better next season.

City have enjoyed a stunning week, smashing Arsenal 3-0 in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final before recording the same scoreline against the Gunners in the league last night.

Pep Guardiola’s champions-elect welcome Chelsea to the Etihad on Sunday as they look to take another step towards top-flight glory.

Conte, who guided the Blues to the league crown last season, has ‘great admiration’ for City and can’t see them being stopped any time soon.

He said: "I think last season it was always a fantastic team. But after one season then the manager tried to improve the quality of the starting eleven, of his squad. This is the result.

"For sure [they be better next season] because they have the possibility to spend money and improve the quality of the starting eleven and squad.

"For this league and for the other teams they have to pay great attention of Man City. When there is confidence and money to spend, one plus one is two, not three four or five.

"I think we must have a great admiration for this team because they are having a fantastic path this season.

"Sometimes this is very difficult to find a weakness in this team.

"I think when you work very well and there is a great feeling between the manager and club you can work the way you want to improve the way you want.

"They have the possibility to spend a lot of money, and when you link the two things this is the final result."

Chelsea need a positive result against City this weekend to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Conte’s side are currently in fifth, two points behind Tottenham who take on Huddersfield at Wembley tomorrow.

Conte said: "For us in this moment we have to try to get a place in the Champions League.

"It won’t be easy, there are many teams very strong and we must be ready to fight and get a place in the next season in the Champions League.

"The most important thing in every game is to have a tactical plan offensively and defensively. It is important not to lose the balance.

"In my idea and mind if you want to win you must have great balance in every game."
