Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal insists: This man has not saved my job

LOUIS VAN GAAL has insisted that Marcus Rashford's goals are not keeping him in his job.

The Manchester United boss has denied claims that he is still at the club becuase of the 18-year-old's sensational impact in his first two games.

Rashford was promoted to the first team due to injuries to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial for must-win games against Midtjylland and Arsenal.

The United academy product scored four goals in those games and turned their season on its head.

But Van Gaal insists that the credit should be shared with himself and the other young players that have come in.

He said: "I have read that Rashford is saving me. No, no. Rashford has got his chance thanks to my policy, and the club's of course.

"The same thing applies for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Guillermo Varela, and a lot of the other young players.

"That is why we didn't invest in January. Our policy is to have a small squad to allow space for young players.

"I've always said it is not about age it is about quality."
