Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and Liverpool man Steven Gerrard to earn MASSIVE MLS wage
 
FORMER Chelsea star Frank Lampard will earn £3.8m a year when he finally switches to New York City this summer, according to reports.
 
 Lampard was due to link-up with the Major League Soccer outfit in January.
 
 But he opted to extend his deal at Manchester CIty.
 
 Sports Illustrated claim the midfielder will be one of the MLS's highest-paid stars.
 
 He will scoop £3.8m a year, plus a "marketing bonus".
 
 It's thought Liverpool man Steven Gerrard will earn a similar amount when he joins LA Galaxy.
 
 Only a handful of MLS players earn as much as Lampard and Gerrard.
 
 These include David Villa, Kaka and Toronto FC midfielder Michael Bradley.
 
 Lampard has made 30 appearances for City this season, scoring five goals.
 
 During his 13 year stint at Stamford Bridge, he became the Blues all-time leading goalscorer.
 
 Lampard notched 211 goals in all competitions for the west London outfit.
 
 On signing his contract with New York, he said: “I want to carry on challenging myself. I want to be that leader on and off the pitch.
 
 "I’m coming to a great city and I want to show that I can play great football and be a great personality in the locker room.”
