Nottingham Forest to appoint ex-Rangers boss Mark Warburton in next 24 hours
NOTTINGHAM FOREST are set to appoint Mark Warburton as their new head coach
Owner Fawaz Al Hasawi wanted the former Rangers boss to pitch up at the City Ground in the summer but has rushed forward his plans.
Two defeats on the spin have left Forest in a perilous position - two points above the Championship drop zone.
And, according to the Nottingham Post, the club hope Warburton’s arrival can be confirmed in the next 24 hours.
Only a couple of issues are left to be resolved before Warburton can put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Warburton is expected to be appointed in time to take charge of Saturday’s clash against bitter rivals Derby County.
The Rams will also have a new man in charge following Steve McClaren’s sacking.
Former Birmingham boss Gary Rowett has been approached about the job.
Warburton will link up with director of football Frank McParland again, having worked with him at Rangers.
McParland left Ibrox last month but was swiftly appointed at the City Ground.
Gary Brazil and Jack Lester were given the reins for the rest of the season following Philippe Montanier’s departure in January.
But Al Hasawi has been concerned by a recent downturn in form that has seen Forest pick up just four points in seven games.
Warburton has Championship experience having taken Brentford to the play-offs in 2015, despite it being announced he would be losing his job before the end of that season.
He then pitched up at Rangers and helped the club to the Scottish Championship title and Challenge Cup before his departure.
