CHELSEA have turned their attentions to £20m-rated Marseille star Giannelli Imbula, but could have signed him for just £1m two seasons ago.
 
 The Blues attempted to sign the 22-year-old in 2013 for a modest £1m fee, but were foiled by the player's father and agent Willy Ndangi.
 
 Ndangi told L'Equipe: "You know how much I refused from Chelsea? A million euros (£800,000).
 
 "About a month before Giannelli signed with Marseille, I had a meeting with a Chelsea official.
 
 "But their people wanted a stranglehold on the player for five years."
 
 Chelsea's interest in the deep-lying midfielder may hand Man Utd and Arsenal the advantage in the battle to sign Morgan Schneiderlin.
 
 Chelsea are bracing themselves for a double raid from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
 
 According to Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Real Madrid are interested in Nigerian international John Obi Mikel.
 
 Meanwhile The Metro claim Carlo Ancelotti is looking to prise Stamford Bridge favourite Petr Cech away from west London.
 
 Chelsea have lost ground in the race to sign Fulham wonder kid Patrick Roberts.
 
 According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are in pole position to sign the 18-year-old with a sizeable £10m offer.
