The Dutch striker has become one of the hottest properties in Europe following his stunning exploits this season.

And Mancini admitted yesterday he would love to lure him to the Etihad Stadium if he leaves the Gunners.

Boss Arsene Wenger is facing a losing battle to keep his prize asset.

Van Persie has plundered 32 goals for the Gunners this season but has yet to sign a new contract.

He is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal and the Gunners could be forced to cash in or risk losing him for nothing.

The Gunners cannot match his wage demands or guarantee Champions League football.

But Mancini can promise him both and knows Van Persie would be an ideal replacement for rebel Argentine Carlos Tevez.
