Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe hoping to follow example of Aston Villa's Paul Lambert
 
 BOURNEMOUTH boss Eddie Howe says he wants to emulate the rise of Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert from League One to the Premier League.
 
 Lambert left Norwich to take over the reins at Villa after steering the Canaries to back-to-back promotions from the third tier.
 
 Now Howe hopes to follow in the footsteps of his Scottish counterpart after guiding Bournemouth to the top of the Championship.
 
 Howe said: "It is a journey we want to go on, the journey he went on with Norwich was magnificent.
 
 "I think he is doing very well at Villa under tough circumstances.
 
 "I have had quite a few dealings with him in the past.
 
 "He has been an absolute gentleman to me, whether that's been about players or tactically.
 
 "We have had some good battles with Burnley and Norwich teams.
 
 "He is someone I have huge respect for, I would imagine it's very different to jump from being a Championship manager to then managing in the Premier League."
 
 Howe admits he could tweak his table-topping Cherries side for the game but insists he has great admiration and respect for the competition.
 
 He added: "It's sad that it's not the prominent cup competition it once was.
 
 "I think it could be temporary and I would like to think it will come back to prominence."
