Team GB's star canoeist David Florence blows chance of C1 medal at Rio 2016
DAVID FLORENCE blew his chance of an Olympic medal in the C1 Canoe Slalom after an error-strewn run in the final.
Florence was a strong medal hope for Team GB at the Rio Games but he failed to deliver.
The world champion went out in fourth following a disappointing semi-final run.
And he couldn't produce the vastly improved performance needed to get on the podium.
France's Denis Gargaud Chanut won gold.
Florence became GB's first slalom medallist after claiming a silver in the C1 in 2008 but has never won Olympic gold.
The 34-year-old Scot will compete in the C2 event which begins on Thursday.
