Portugal wins 7 medals on first day
 


 1 st Open European Championship Swimming DSIS

 It started yesterday in Coimbra, the 1st European Championship Swimming DSIs, which relies on the presence of athletes 89 athletes from thirteen different countries, and soon to open the national team won seven medals: 3 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze .

 Filipe Santos, in the 400 meters free, was the first to open the medalist beating the national record and winning gold. This was followed by Ricardo Pires, 50 mts in the stomach, more to achieve a gold beating also the national record for the distance.

 In the 25 m free, Pedro Vaz and John Wood won two more medals to Portugal, the gold and bronze respectively. Joseph Vieira, 50 mts in the stomach, broke the national record and reached the silver medal. Finally, in the 100 meters butterfly, Mannie NG Castro and Ana won the silver and bronze, with the first hit the national record and the record for the second European Masters of the distance.

 The should also be noted that in the late afternoon of Wednesday, there was the Opening Ceremony of the event which was attended by some personalities and guests, including the Mayor of Coimbra, Dr. John Paulo de Melo and President of the DSIs, Diane Dart.
