Leicester set to miss out on Sporting Lisbon star Islam Slimani
 

 
LEICESTER are ready to pull the plug on their £16m bid to land Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.
 
Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has been chasing Slimani for some time but is understood to be reluctant to meet the £23m release clause in his contract.
 
 Slimani was Sporting’s leading scorer last season with 27 goals in 33 games.
 
 The Portuguese club are unwilling to budge on the €30m bid required to trigger the striker’s release even though Slimani has indicated he would like to leave.
 
 Ranieri is still hopeful that leading scorer Jamie Vardy will snub Arsenal’s £20m move for him and pledge his future to the champions.
