Antonio Conte reveals why he is fond of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger


 
ANTONIO CONTE has hailed Arsenal and Arsene Wenger for their 20-year association.
 
Wenger was appointed Gunners boss in September 1996 and the club have stuck by him through the years despite their failure to win the Premier League since 2004 and nine-year trophy drought before lifting the FA Cup in 2014.
 
 The hiring-and-firing culture within football has claimed an increasing number of managers in recent years but Wenger has rarely seen his job placed under pressure by the Arsenal board.
 
 Starsport exclusively revealed earlier this week that Conte is already under the cosh at Chelsea despite their solid start to the season.
 
 And Conte admits he is fond of Arsenal's loyalty to Wenger.
 
 "I think that Arsenal have a good story," Conte said at his pre-match press conference. "It’s an important team.
 
 "I don’t want to go into a situation of Wenger or Mourinho.
 
 "I think that Wenger is doing a good job.
 
 "It’s fantastic if somebody is able to stay for 20 years in one club.
 
 "I think that there is satisfaction in both sides.
 
 "Sometimes I think that it’s important for the manager to know that he doesn’t always have to win, lose or draw.
 
 "Sometimes if you judge only for the wins, you make a big mistake and you pay for this in the future."
