Adidas boss admits: Man United's playing style is not what we want to see

ADIDAS boss Herbert Hainer admits Manchester United's playing style is not what the sportswear brand want to see.

United recorded their first win in eight games on Saturday when Swansea were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford.

The previous poor run put manager Louis van Gaal on the brink of the sack as his side's dull displays saw the club tumble down the Premier League table.

German kit giants Adidas agreed a 10-year £750m contract to supply United's shirts last year.

The deal has already proved a big success for the company, but Hainer admits the club's style of play is not what the brand were expecting.

"Business with Man United is going very well, we sell more shirts than expected,” he told German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung.

“We are satisfied, even if the current playing style of Man United is not exactly what we want to see."

Hainer added: "This success confirms again that United is not just a football club.

“With more than 650million fans globally, it is, without doubt, one of the world's most supported sports symbols.

“This special club has not only a rich history, but also a reputation for success and the unexpected."
