Conor McGregor's coach hints he's open to Georges St-Pierre fight
CONOR MCGREGOR's coach has hinted he's open to seeing the lightweight champion take on Georges St-Pierre.
St-Pierre, a two-time welterweight champion, penned a new deal with the UFC late last week, an act which brought about an end to the speculation surrounding his mixed martial arts future.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement a few days later after St-Pierre revealed to Starsport that contract talks between his management and the promotion had resumed.
The imminent return of St-Pierre has opened the door for several big fights, which the UFC are in dire need of.
A fight against McGregor has been touted as a potential comeback bout for St-Pierre, who last graced the Octagon at UFC 167 all the way back in November 2013.
St-Pierre's head coach, Firas Zahabi, is open to the idea of McGregor being his most famous student's first opponent in his second stint inside the Octagon, as well as the Canadian's boxing coach, Freddie Roach.
And it seems that Kavanagh is also intrigued by the prospect of the pair, 35 and 28 respectively, getting it on.
In response to a tweet regarding a possible fight between McGregor and St-Pierre, Kavanagh tweeted: "@Maclifeofficial @Jon_Anik evidence would seem to suggest that 'insert name' v CMcG is the biggest fight in UFC history."
In an interview with Starsport earlier this month, St-Pierre, 25-2, revealed that he's eyeing fights against the biggest names in the UFC.
"There's a lot of fights that interest me," he said. "It's like the stock market, you know?
"Sometimes some guys' stock are more hot than some others, you know? "And as a fighter, you always want to have the hot stock."
