LUKA MODRIC took a step closer to quitting Tottenham yesterday after talks with new boss Andre Villas-Boas.

The Croatian midfielder, 26, has been told he can leave once Spurs’ £35m price tag is met.


Real Madrid are currently leading the chase, with Manchester United and mega-rich Paris St Germain also interested.


Meanwhile, defender Ledley King has finally hung up his boots after admitting defeat in a long battle against chronic knee problems.


King, 31, spent his entire career at White Hart Lane.
