WEST HAM are preparing a shock deal to sign Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge, claim sensational reports.

According to local newspaper Brentwood Gazette, the Hammers are readying an £18m offer to bring the prolific England international back to London.

Sturridge, who spent four years with Chelsea, has been plagued by injury problems again this season - making just six appearances in all competitions.

His lack of competitive action under Jurgen Klopp could leave him vulnerable to the axe despite almost helping Liverpool land a historic Premier League title.

The Mirror claim Klopp is growing tired of Sturridge's constant injury woes and may be willing to sanction his departure for around £25m - £7m more than West Ham's offer.

Bilic, who has guided his new squad into sixth position, is scoring for a new talisman capable of taking the Hammers to the next level ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium.

The sale of Sturridge would have been incomprehensible during the 2013/2014 season where he fired in 25 goals in 33 appearances.

However, Kop legend Dietmar Hamann believes an exit is a very real possibility.

He told the Sunday People: "Time is running out for Daniel to show that he is the striker to lead Liverpool’s attack in the future.

"There is no doubting Sturridge’s quality, but I remember when I was at City that there were worries back then about his problems with injury.

"Jurgen Klopp needs a striker he can rely on. Not only that, he expects every single one of his players to put in a shift physically.

“There have to be doubts whether Sturridge can cope physically with the system that Klopp plays."
