BREAKING: Severn Bridge CLOSED after car FALLS OFF flyover onto M48
THE SEVERN Bridge has been shut after a car crashed through a barrier and fell onto the M48 below.
The M48 near Chepstow has been closed off with motorists warned to avoid the area.
Witnesses say the car landed upside down after falling from the flyover.
In a statement, Highways England said: "The M48 Severn Bridge is closed westbound between J1 and J2 due to an incident.
"Gwent Police and emergency services are currently in attendance.
"Road users are advised to use the M4 second Severn Crossing.
"Road users are also advised to allow extra time for their journey."
A man was freed from the car by firefighters and is now being treated for pelvic and spinal injuries.
His condition is not yet known at this stage.
