Casualties after ceiling COLLAPSES in busy Indian restaurant

SIX casualties were reported after a ceiling collapsed at a busy Indian restaurant in Greater Manchester.

Paramedics raced to aid the victims, all women, following the horror scenes at Bolton's Sizzling Palate restaurant.

Firefighters equipped with special appliances arrived outside the business at about 10.32pm following reports that parts of the ceiling had collapsed.

All the women were then rushed to hospital.

According to The Manchester Evening News five of the victims suffered minor injuries, while another is being treated for neck damage.

Her condition is not known at this time.

Greater Manchester Police officers closed off Bradshawgate Road, while firefighters remained at the restaurant for about an hour.

Restaurant manager Amir told Express.co.uk: “A small fraction of the suspended ceiling collapsed but everything is OK.

It’s not a major disaster, a few people got minor injuries and minor concussion. Police have given us the OK.

“Business as usual.”

Daily Star Online has approached North West Ambulance Service for comment about the victims’ current conditions.
