Chinese fighter jets intercept US plane and almost cause fatal crash


 
A PAIR of Chinese fighter jets intercepted a US surveillance plane and almost caused a collision.
 
The J-10 jets came within 300ft of the American EP-3 and forced it "to take evasive action", Fox News reports.
 
 Both Chinese fighter jets were reportedly armed with air-to-air missiles.
 
 The near-collision took place roughly 90 miles south of the city Qingdao in the East China Sea.
 
 US and Chinese aircraft have come dangerously close in recent months.
 
 On May 25, Washington slammed "unsafe and unprofessional" Chinese pilots after they flew 100 feet from one of the Navy's surveillance aircraft.
 
 And on May 17, two SU-30 jets intercepted a US aircraft designed to detect radiation while it was flying over the East China Sea.
 
 Earlier this month, the US Navy sailed a guided-missile destroyer near Triton Island – a contested island in the South China Sea claimed by Beijing.
 
 China declared an air defence identification zone over a large section of the East China Sea in 2013 – but the US did not recognise the claim.
 
 Beijing is now deeply suspicious of any US military activity around its coastline.
