Hollyoaks: Adam left in fear by cash beatdown ADAM Barton gets battered in prison after his mum Moira refuses to hand over any more money to keep him safe.
Moira is shocked by her son’s injuries when she visits him in hospital with Cain Dingle and Adam’s best friend Aaron Livesy.
But she refuses to pay more cash to a woman called Maxine who is running a protection racket inside the jail.
Battered Adam tries to be brave but when Moira tells him she has notified the prison authorities he is left feeling more scared than ever.
He knows once he is released from hospital things will only get worse for him in jail.
Speaking about the storyline Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, said: “This woman Maxine turns up demanding money to keep Adam safe.
“Moira pays her but she comes back and wants more money. Moira can’t pay £2,000 every week.
“She says no to it because she thought it was a one-off payment but then Adam is hospitalised.”
Natalie added: “Moira feels awful when she visits him in hospital because his face is pretty banged up. She tells him that Maxine has been to see her and she’ll sort it out.
“Moira tells Adam ‘don’t worry I’ve handled it, I’ve already phoned prison officers and reported it’ and that actually makes it worse.
“When Cain finds out he pays a visit and gets heavy-handed and threatens her. But Maxine is a tough cookie and a real manipulator.
“This is something she’s been doing for a long time so it doesn’t scare her at all.”
Watch as Adam ends up in hospital a week on Tuesday on ITV.
