Spanish outlet Don Balon say the Blues would consider selling their star striker to Atletico Madrid if they can find a replacement.
Costa has had a massive bust up with boss Antonio Conte this week and was dropped for the 3-0 win over Leicester yesterday.
Conte insists Costa is only missing because of a back problem but the forward has been uploaded videos of himself working out alone on his social media.
Don Balon say Atletico would have instantly made a move for the Spain international as soon as the news of the row broke.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone is a massive fan of Costa and the player himself has admitted he wanted to head back to the Spanish capital over the summer.
He was convinced to stay and has been in brilliant form - until now.
There is talk of a massive £600,000-a-week offer on the table from the Chinese Super League, however Costa is not thought to be interested in that particular move.
Costa, Simeone, Chelsea and Atleti are open to a return to La Liga for the Brazil-born hitman but the Blues will have to find a replacement and doing that in January will prove difficult.
