FA BAN TALK OF RIO FERDINAND ROW

FA CHAIRMAN David Bernstein has banned England from talking about Rio Ferdinand during Euro 2012.

Boss Roy Hodgson has come under fire for snubbing Ferdinand in favour of rookie Martin Kelly in the wake of the John Terry race row.

But Bernstein last night insisted any talk of Ferdinand during the finals in Poland and Ukraine was not going to be tolerated.

Bernstein spoke after England landed in Krakow last night and when asked if the subject was off limits he said: “As far as I’m concerned, definitely.

“Let me be absolutely clear because I’m sure there will be other questions about this.

“We’re here to do the best we can, we’re here to talk about the tournament, about the 23 players who are here, and I’m not prepared to discuss at all any players who are not here.

“We are here to focus on this coming two or three weeks – three weeks hopefully.

“It is a tough one but it is an issue, it might be an issue. But it’s an issue I’m happy to talk about when the tournament is over.

“We are here to talk about the tournament and the future and that is it. We all want to maximise our chances of doing well and we believe that the focus is on what’s ahead of us, not what is behind us.”
