Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini refuses to rule out move for Barcelona star Lionel Messi
 
 LIONEL MESSI could still be set for a world-record move to Manchester City after boss Manuel Pellegrini refused to rule out a move for the Barcelona megastar.
 
 The Argentine sparked speculation about his future at the Nou Camp after he said at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Zurich: “I’m not sure what’s going to happen. Nobody knows what the future holds.”
 
 That brief statement sent shockwaves around the world and almost instantly Messi was linked with a move to Premier League champions City.
 
 The Blues’ chief executive officer Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain have history with Barcelona and the Messi hysteria won’t die down.
 
 City boss Pellegrini said: “We are an important team at this moment because we are one team that can buy players the same as six, seven, eight or nine different teams.
 
 “But it is difficult to think of Barcelona without Messi.”
 
 The Argentina star has a £210million release clause.
 
 And Messi would expect a six-year deal worth around £270m but that figure would not be a stumbling block for mega-rich City.
