ROD SARICH is taking baby steps on his Grand Slam chasing comeback.
 
The 35-year-old Sheffield star has come out of retirement to help the Steelers chase an Elite League treble.
 
 They have already booked their place in the end-of-season play-offs, face Cardiff in the Challenge Cup final on Sunday and are also clinging onto the slim hope of catching the Devils in the title race.
 
 "The hardest part is getting used to having skates on again,” said the former Great Britain star.
 
 "Because I haven't played since September my feet have been killing me.
 
 "It's nothing like putting on shoes, it feels like your feet are in a vice, I've got baby feet now, they are so soft, and they've got to harden up again.
 
 "You just need to battle through it - hockey players feet don't look very nice but you have to live with the callouses."
 
 Sarich is fifth in the club’s all-time appearance list and iced in his 585th game in the 6-3 defeat in Fife on Sunday.
 
 He added: "I've never won the Challenge Cup, I've been in a couple of finals, and it would be good to complete the lot."
 
 TELFORD have clinched the English Premier League title three months after being only hours away from oblivion.
 
 The Tigers were saved from collapse at the 11th hour when new owners came in after coach Tom Watkins and most of his squad, who hadn't been paid for six weeks, accepted big pay cuts.
 
 He said: "The team spirit, support and belief has been fantastic.
 
 "The boys have been fantastic all season, especially during October and November, when it could have been a different story."
 
 The Tigers’ 7-3 win over Bracknell means they are champions for the second time in three seasons as they can't be caught with four games left.
