Tyson Fury issues BIZARRE challenge to heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua

TYSON FURY has issued a bizarre challenge to boxing rival Anthony Joshua.

But instead of Fury teeing up a bout with world heavyweight champion Joshua inside the ring he's come up with a very different proposal.

Instead the Manchester puncher has challenged Joshua to a ROWING competition.

Fury is trimming down ahead of a return to the ring for the first time since November 2015.

Since beating Wladimir Klitschko in Germany that year he's not set foot inside the ropes for a professional contest.

But the 29-year-old is now getting back in shape and has IBF and WBA champion Joshua in his sights.

And in a bid to prove his fitness to the world, Fury has taken to Instagram to propose an unsual 2000 metre rowing competition.

"I challenge u @anthony_joshua to a rowing machine race over 2k meters," he wrote in a caption alongside a video.

Fury looks unlikely to get a positive response to his challenge, though.

Joshua is busy preparing for his world heavyweight bout with WBO champion Joseph Parker in Cardiff on March 31.

And Fury could find himself well down the pecking order in AJ's fight schedule for the year.

Promoter Eddie Hearn claimed last weekend that Joshua is set to fight American Deontay Wilder later this year, meaning any bout with Fury would likely have to wait until at least 2019.
