UFC hopeful blasts rival on the chin with a toe-nado head kick in WILD knockout


 
 
DANA WHITE’S Tuesday Night Contender Series continued with another crazy knockout last night as another hopeful staked his claim for a UFC contract.
 
 Julian Marquez stepped into the Octagon to take on middleweight rival Phillip Hawes aiming to convince the bald-headed chief of the UFC to add him to the roster.
 
 And he delivered an emphatic knockout in the second round that did exactly that.
 
 Having buzzed Hawes in the first round with a head kick, Marquez began the second round in dominant fashion, flooring the wrestler with a powerful strike.
 
 And as Hawes scrambled to get back to his feet, Marquez let fly with a skull-crushing headkick, slamming his toes into his rival’s chin with pinpoint accuracy to end the fight in style.
 
 “I was tired,” Marquez said after the fight as he improved his record to 6-1.
 
 “The weight cut yesterday was pretty rough, but I just knew he was going to keep coming.
 
 “I just knew if I weathered the storm, he would leave an opening, which he did.”
 
 Sat cageside along with chief matchmaker Sean Shelby, White fulfilled his promise to invite the highly-rated fighter to the UFC.
 
 Marquez will join Brandon Davis, who had earlier defeated Austin Arnett via unanimous decision.
