John Terry made it 2-0 after the break with a header from a Frank Lampard corner.
Gokhan Inler threatened to win it for the Italians with a half volley from the edge of the area, only for Lampard to smash home a 75th minute penalty given after Andrea Dossena handled Branislav Ivanovic’s header.
